Partnerships
Reach Out and Read
Concord Children’s Clinic has partnered with Reach Out And Read to deliver vital information about the importance of reading at routine pediatric checkups. Since we have access to families from birth to age 3 years, a period of critical brain development, this program plays an integral part of a child’s early growth.
During well visits, we talk with parents about the benefits of reading aloud and sharing with their young children beginning at birth. We show them how to hold books to best engage their children, and how to interact with the text and images to help them follow along. We share advice for talking about stories with infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. Families gain a deeper understanding of why they should make reading a daily habit, and leave inspired to cuddle up with their young one and a book.
Promising Pages
Concord Children’s Clinic has partnered with Promising-Pages with a mission to share donated books with children in the local area. Promising Pages envisions a world where all children have home libraries of self-selected books, can see themselves reflected in books they read, and have made reading a joyful habit for a lifetime.
During your child’s visit at our clinic, the provider may ask the child if they would like a book or a child can request a book. The child can then pick a book of their choice from our choice of lightly used books. The book is theirs free of charge. We hope for a world where all children broaden their horizons with reading and exploring other worlds through books.
Track Rx Trail
Kids in Parks has created the TRACK Rx program to help kids and families learn how spending time in nature improves their overall health. Concord Children’s Clinic promotes outdoor time as it is good for all children’s wellbeing.
There are numerous studies that link our overall health with spending time outdoors. When we play outside, our muscles grow stronger, our cardiovascular health is improved, our brains get smarter, and our self-esteem grows. Concord Children’s Clinic see the side-effects that result from sedentary lifestyles, and understand the benefits children receive from being active outdoors.
Our clinic partners with Kids in Parks and is on the cutting edge of a national movement to promote outdoor activity for all children.
